Shobana Krishnamoorthy is a Senior Developer in the Office division at Microsoft Corporation, USA. She has over 12+ years’ experience in the technology industry with a background education in Computer Science. As a Developer at Microsoft, Shobana and team are responsible for automating deployments, SharePoint feature management, SharePoint site reliability and security of cloud network end to end starting from requirement to release. She holds five patents in Cloud management and patching including Cross-Environment Orchestration of Deployment Activities, Patching Auto-stop and Policy driven flight management. She is a passionate stakeholder of the Women’s mentoring circle at Microsoft. Prior to her experience at Microsoft, Shobana was a Lead Developer and managed a team of developers to build & deliver a next generation Electronic patient record system (EPR). She served as an ambassador to many different corporate clients and was invited to travel to Netherlands for deploying the EPR solution and train 40+ engineers.
She was an open source hackathon mentor for project “Preventing child abductions”, served as reviewer and Anita bee mentor for “Software engineering”  track, SOL speaker for “Career path as software engineer” @GHC 2017, Technical workshop speaker for “Build a plane while flying on it” @ GHC 2018. She has also presented various technical topics on Devops, CI/CD, Dark deployments in Microsoft internal conferences and external @Women impact in tech and SWE(society of women engineers).
Apart from work, she is an active volunteer @ “Sophia’s way”, a non-profit organization for assisting women from homeless to Independence, Mentor @ “Tech bridge for girls” – teaching computer science for young girls in middle and high school. Through her work in diverse work environments around the world - for tiny and giant organizations, in exploratory and in execution-focused teams, as a software architect and having worked in safe deployments, she has the insights for this topic.
