PRO TALK: Web Assembly and Serverless: It's Easier Than You Think!
When you think of Web Assembly, do you think of writing Assembler code? Do you have horror stories about Serverless functions having a high latency due to performance issues that could be streamlined with native code modules? This talk is for you (and anyone interested in learning how Web Assembly works, how it's not as scary as it sounds, and how it can be paired with Serverless to create a more flexible architecture.

PRO TALK: Building Fullstack Serverless GraphQL Applications in the Cloud
Follow along as we build a fullstack application using GraphQL, React, Apollo, and Neo4j Database. We'll show how to leverage the scale of serverless for our GraphQL API and how to take advantage of 3rd party services like Auth0 for handling authentication and authorization in our GraphQL app. This demo-heavy live-coding presentation will focus on showing developers how they can maximize productivity and scalability when building fullstack GraphQL applications. While developing a simple restaurant review application with React, we will show how to build a JavaScript Node.js GraphQL server and deploy to a serverless environment using functions-as-a-service, including how to integrate with a database and connect to our client app. Finally we will add authorization and authentication to our app, showing how to lock down our GraphQL API.

PRO TALK: Serverless Architecture: A New Frontier in Could Computing
Serverless architectures are driving innovation in cloud, making applications deployments more efficient and faster. Applications taking advantage of BaaS (Backend as a Service) and FaaS (Function as a Service) and rich clients are driving down the datacenter TCO (Total cost of ownership) for companies, in addition to reducing the engineering complexity and TTM (Time to market).

PRO TALK: Don't Let FaaS Do a BaaS Job
Serverless Computing, serverless functions, and FaaS are all popular buzzwords that are gaining more and more traction. Even if we call Serverless “serverless”, there are still servers involved. In this session, we will discuss the history of Serverless, when and why it should be used, and the differences between BaaS and FaaS and I’ll show the transformation of an example application from locally hosted to be FaaS while still using some of the BaaS features.
