PRO TALK: Microservices at Scale: Next Steps with Kubernetes and Service Mesh
Microservices are the de facto standard architecture of cloud native software, and containers are the best way to build and deploy Microservices on prem or in the cloud. With Docker and Kubernetes, it's fairly simple to get a few services up and running. When this scales up to hundreds or thousands of containers and services, things can get complicated. A service mesh provides observability, traffic management and security to the services running within your cluster, all with no code changes. In this session, we'll take a tour of service mesh architecture and demonstrate common uses cases with two popular options, Istio and Linkerd.

PRO TALK: Seamless Web Services Development with Mu
In the development of fast-paced, service-oriented systems, it is not uncommon for changes in major requirements to emerge. Things that were concrete like protocols, transports, and encodings may need to be altered, e.g., due to the organization switching to a new tech stack. Oli introduces Mu, a new FP library for building web services aiming to make such changes painless. Mu offers code annotations for defining RPC or REST APIs, message types, and serialization formats, thus removing a dependency on protocol-specific declarations and enabling seamless changes between different implementations.
